Pitchline is a chromatic tuner and metronome. If something reads wrong or you have a question, write to us.
Email shchukavlad4@gmail.com. We usually reply within two business days. If the tuner misreads a specific instrument, tell us the instrument, the string and your iPhone model. In Settings, "Signal details" shows the raw readings and helps us check.
How do I get an accurate reading?
- Play one string at a time and let it ring. Muted or chopped notes are hard to read.
- Use a quiet room. Other instruments, a TV or a fan can confuse the tuner.
- Hold the phone close to the instrument, near the sound hole, pickup or body.
- Tune each string a little below the note, then bring it up to pitch. It settles better than tuning down.
The note reads sharp right after I pluck
Right after the pluck a string vibrates hard and its pitch is briefly a little high. It settles within a second or two. Wait for the needle to stop moving, then read it. The tuner dims the reading for a moment after the string stops so it doesn't jump around.
The tuner doesn't hear anything
Pitchline needs microphone access. If you tapped "Don't Allow", open iPhone Settings, then Pitchline, and turn on Microphone. The microphone is used only to find the pitch of the sound you play. Nothing is recorded or stored, and audio never leaves your phone. A phone case or a hand over the bottom of the phone can also block the microphone.
How do I change A4 calibration?
Open Settings and change A4. It goes from 415 to 466 Hz and starts at 440 Hz. Pick another value for baroque pitch or for an instrument that is tuned differently, such as a piano you are playing along with.
Why does the tuner show H instead of B?
Some countries use German note names, where B-flat is called B and B is called H. Open Settings, then Note names, and choose C D E, Do Re Mi or German (B/H).
What does Pro add?
The free tuner is accurate for everyone. Pro is a one-time purchase that adds violin, viola, cello, mandolin, banjo and 5-string bass, alternate and custom tunings, strobe mode, more metronome tools (subdivisions, any time signature, per-beat accents, click sounds) and color themes. It isn't a subscription.
How do I restore Pro on a new device?
Open Settings and tap Restore Purchases. It is also on the Pro screen. Use the same Apple Account you bought with.
Can my family use Pro?
Yes. Pro supports Family Sharing. If the purchaser has it turned on, family members get Pro on their own devices at no extra cost. If it doesn't appear, tap Restore Purchases.
Does the metronome keep playing in the background?
Yes. It keeps playing when the screen is locked or you switch to another app, for example to open sheet music. After a phone call or another interruption it resumes by itself.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles payments and refunds, so we can't refund a purchase ourselves. You can ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
